Chakra

In the Naruto world their exists many types of Chakra. Here you can find information on the Chakra types which have currently been revealed or otherwise explained.

Normal Chakra: The regular, average type of Chakra everyone is born with, Ninja are trained very early on to learn to control it. The easiest of the Chakra types to control, It can be used in most Chakra requiring techniques. Over time, it can be built up to be more, and more powerful. Because of this, depending on the Ninja's capabilities, the power of this Chakra differs from ninja to ninja. Normal Chakra, is always shown in blue. If you see Chakra on a character in the series not in blue, it has to be a different kind of chakra.

Celestial Gates Chakra: By breaking all of the body's limits on how much strength can be used, a Ninja can access 100% of their total power. These restrictions are known as Gates, 8 gates in all. One's own muscles and Chakra are so powerful that using them to their full capacity will destroy them, literally making the muscles explode or rip into pieces. This Chakra can only be used temporarily, and kills the user after about 5 minutes if all gates have been unlocked. The fewer gates unlocked, the longer the user has until the attack kills them. Because this attack is so dangerous it is classified as a forbidden jutsu. This technique will cause some of the Chakra emitting from the user to green, but don't be fooled this technique still uses normal chakra, just in extremely high amounts.

Cursed Seal Chakra: This type of Chakra can only be used if the user has been given the cursed seal and survived the 10% chance of being killed from it. However, it can only be accessed after all of that person's normal chakra has been drained. One their normal chakra has been drained, a black pattern will come out of the seal and cover most of the user's body. The pattern looks slightly different from user to user, but has virtually no effect on their power. So far the only person who seems to be able to give this mark is Orochimaru. But, it is unlikely he actually invented it. The more this Chakra is used, the more the user depends on it, eventually consuming them, and making them become a slave to whoever it was who gave them the seal. This Chakra type has multiple levels, each level giving the user more, and more power, and making them more, and more dependent on it, and more dangerous to use.

Healing Chakra: Used by most medically specialized ninja for healing purposes, this greenish looking chakra can heal most physical injuries at astounding speeds. It's currently unknown if this type of Chakra is something all ninja are born with, or something that must be attained other ways. To use it, the ninja gathers this Chakra in the area of their body they want to use to heal someone. Highly advanced users of this Chakra are able to even use it to heal themselves, but resulting in that ninja to have a shorter life span.

Biju Chakra: In the Naruto world their exist 9 Biju (Demons/Beasts). Each demon with a certain number of tails. One tail being the weakest, nine tails being the strongest. Some of these Biju have been sealed away within a ninja, because they are simply to powerful to destroy. These ninja are called Jinchuriki. Naruto (9 tailed demon), and Gaara (one tailed demon), are good example of Jinchuriki. Highly trained Jinchuriki are able to tap into the Biju Chakra within them and use it at will. Lesser skilled Jinchuriki can only use this Chakra when in a life threatening situation. This is because if the Jinchuriki dies, the Biju within them dies. So the Biju wants to protect itself from being killed.

Ninja Rankings

Here you find information on all of the different Ninja Rankings in the Naruto series. For each ninja ranking we have supplied a description of what that ranking is and an image of a character in that ranking. To prevent any confusion the term Shinobi is another Japanese term for the word Ninja.


Academy Students - This is where everyone interested in becoming a Ninja must first start out. It's almost like a pre-ninja stage. You aren't officially considered a ninja yet, but you're in the training of becoming one. This is usually the stage where you'll see all the little kids. Academy Students usually graduate around the age of 12. During the training of the academy, students don't do any missions, but learn about what becoming a ninja means and practicing basic techniques that everyone should know before becoming a real ninja.


Lower Ninja - Also known as a Genin, this is the stage an Academy Student reaches after successfully graduating the Academy. They are now considered an official ninja. When this happens the passing students from the academy are split into groups of 3 people; each group with their own Elite Ninja instructor. The instructor will supervise them on missions and help prepare them for becoming a Middle Ninja. Lower Ninja's missions usually consist of more tedious / unskillful tasks like Weeding, Finding Lost Pets and so on.


Middle Ninja - Also known as a Chuunin, once becoming this level of a Ninja, much more skill and responsibility is required. Middle Ninja's now not only protect themselves in a mission, but the team assigned to them. Middle Ninjas usually have less time to train themselves, and spend their days serving the Kages and teaching Academy Students. Becoming a Middle Ninja is an extremely hard thing to do, and if accomplished shows a great amount of skill in a ninja.


Elite Ninja - Also known a Jounin, this level of Ninja is extremely hard to achieve, and is quite an accomplishment if achieved. This is the next level above a Middle Ninja, and just like the jump from Lower Ninja to Middle Ninja, the jump from Middle Ninja to Elite Ninja is big. It hasn't yet been shown how to achieve this rank of Ninja, but judging by how powerful an Elite Ninja is, it's got to be extremely hard. Elite Ninjas take on the highest ranked missions and are sometimes required to teach Lower Ninjas (i.e. Kakashi with Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura).


Anbu - Greatly skilled, Anbu Ninjas specialize in 3 categories; Assassination, Espionage, and Protection. You could almost think of this ninja level, as a sub-ranking within Special Elites. Like Hunter-Nins, the identity of these ninjas are never revealed, but we do Sasuke's older brother Itachi used to be one. Like Genins, Anbu Ninjas are split into groups of 3 and lead by a higher ranking ninja, which in this case is a Special Elite.


Special Elite - The same as an Elite Ninja, but specializes in a certain field, like medicine or chakra manipulation. In some ways this can be easier to achieve than a regular Elite Ninja, because you only need to be really good at one aspect of being a Ninja, where regular Elites need to be really good and lots of different things. Anbu captains would fall under this category since they are also very specialized.


Missing-Nin - This is the title given to any ninja, regardless of whatever rank they currently belong to, that have left and abandoned their home village. Because they have left their village, and could leak out important information to enemy villages, they are hunted down and killed. Leaving a village is acceptable, aslong as you are to stay affiliated with it.


Hunter-Nin - Also known as Body Erasers, these Ninjas and trained for the soul purpose of hunting down Missing-Nins and killing them. This is to prevent a Missing-Nin from ever leaking out important information about their home village. Hunter-Nins when trained are taught how to kill people, and learn things like where the weak points in a person's body is. All Hunter-Nins wear face masked and they're identity is not revealed.


Sage - Also known as a sennin, this rank of Ninja consists of Ninjas who are close to, or possibly stronger than that of a Kage Ninja. This type of Ninja was usually choose to live outside of their own village, but are forced to keep in touch with it, so not become a Missin-Nin and get hunted down. 3 examples of Ninjas who fall into this rank of ninja are Jiraiya, Tsunade (Who is now a Kage), and Orochimaru.


Kage - The highest level of Ninja that can achieved, Kages are extremely powerful, and know many different techniques. There can only be one Kage per village, and this Ninja is the one in charge of that village. Having strength matched by virtually no one (except perhaps a Sage), they are extremely respected by others. Each of Ninja villages calls their Kage a slightly different name. Here are the names used by the villages, along with what that name means. Ho (Fire), Kaze (Wind), Mizu (Water), Rai (Lightning), Tsuchi (Earth). Each of those names is put infront of the word Kage. For example, Ho (Fire), would be Hokage, and Kaze (Wind), would be Kazekage.

Jutsu Types

What is a Jutsu? Well, basically it's an attack. Which means this sections is about the different types of attacks. Not the attacks themselves but the types (i.e. Physical Attacks, not a Kick). For each Jutsu type, we have supplied a description of what that type is and an image of a character using that type of Jutsu.


Doujutsu - This kind of Jutsu involves using ones eyes, and will recognize others Genjutsu, Ninjutsu, and Taijutsu techniques to form a counter attack. Two examples of Doujutsu attacks would be Sharingan and White Eyes. Typically the only people who are able to use Doujutsu attacks are people born into a family that already knows it. Because these attacks don't require much chakra they can be used from long amounts of time, without tiring the user.


Genjutsu - These kinds of attacks use mostly illusions, and are performed to confuse the enemy; giving them visions and hallucinations. They're mainly used if the user wants to run away or attack from a distance without the enemy knowing. Genjutsu attacks usually will require a lot of skill, and if performed incorrectly will not work. These types of attacks use up a high amount of chakra and need perfect hand seals. Because of this they're most often used by a fighter with very high amounts of chakra or as a last resort.


Hijutsu - Also known as Bloodline Limit techniques, these attacks are limited to those who belong to a certain clan or are the only one able to perform the attack. An example of a Hijutsu technique is White Eyes. It's only known by members of the Hyuuga Clan, and is only possible because of that clans bloodline limits. But techniques like Naruto's sexy attack wouldn't fall into this category. Yes, he's the only person seen using it so far, but that doesn't mean that no one else could use it if they wanted to.


Kinjutsu - Kinjutsu attacks are the techniques that have been banned or outlawed by the leader of a village. These kinds of attacks are usually ones that can do extreme amounts of damage and are dangerous if to fall into the wrong hands. It's because of this that they are made illegal. In the first few episodes of the series, Naruto is shown stealing a scroll with many Kinjutsu attacks, this is how he learns the forbidden version of Shadow Divided Art.


Ninjutsu - Probably the most common Jutsu type, Ninjutsu uses hand seals and chakra to make attacks. The more control someone has over their chakra the more powerful they'll be able to make a ninjutsu attack be. If the user is not able to fully concentrate while performing a ninjutsu attack it will not work successfully. A good example of a standard Ninjutsu skill would be the Body Substitute Skill. This technique allows the user to turn a regular item (usually a broken branch of some kind), into a real looking person. However, this person is only an illusion and cannot actually hurt someone.


Taijutsu - This type of jutsu really only uses ones physical strength, and involves a lot of hand-hand combat. Taijutsu attacks are typically very fast, complex and usually require no chakra. A good example of a Taijutsu user would be Rock Lee, who only uses this type of jutsu. Because these kinds of attacks use only physical strength and are so much different from the other jutsus, most counter attacks won't work and thus gives the Taijutsu user an advantage.

The Chuunin Exams

Twice every year, a test called the The Chuunin Exams held. This is the exam you must pass if you are to become a Middle Ninja. It's a 3 part test, and held for lower ninjas from any village. If you wish to enter you must have completed a minimum of 8 missions, and given the "OK" from your instructor.

The Chuunin Exams hold participants from, not just one village, but any village which a ninja qualified to enter. They are held in different villages each time, and because of convenience purposes, usually end up with mostly ninjas from the village hosting the Chuunin Exams.

These Exams also happen to have another purpose. Because people come from across the globe to watch the final test of the exams, they'll get to see ninjas from your village fight. After taking this into consideration, next time they happen to need a job done, they'll be much more likely to go to the village with the good fighting ninjas for the job, than the village with the bad fighting ninjas. Which means, these exams can be very good for business.

Below you'll find detailed information on each of the 3 parts of the Chuunin Exams. We will be basing this information entirely on what was revealed in the Chuunin Exam taken by Team 7 early on in the series. The reason for this being information on other Chuunin Exams has not yet been revealed.

Chuunin Exams Test 1 - The Written Exam:

This test consists of a 10 question paper, which participants are given 1 hour to complete. Each participant starts out with a total of 10 points, and for each question you get wrong you lose one of those 10 points. If you ever reach 0 points you and the rest of your team will instantly disqualified. While the exam takes place several Middle Ninjas watch over the participants. Their job is to look for anyone who is cheating, and kick out anyone who reaches a score of 0. When they see someone who is cheating they penalize them for 2 points.
The last questions of the test works slightly different. It is not written on the paper like the rest of the questions, and isn't even the same question from test to test. This is what the 10th question was for the Chuunin Exams Team 7 took at the beginning of the series. When the 45 minute mark hit the teacher asked the participants if they would like to continue and try to answer question 10. If they answer question 10 wrong they will never be allowed to take this test again and forever be a Lower Ninja. In addition, all of their teammates will be disqualified.
If you choose to not continue, you will be disqualified along with your teammates, but will be allowed to try again next year. After everyone makes their decision the teacher congratulates them on their choice. They had just answered question 10 and passed the first part of the Chuunin Exam without even knowing it. The secret behind questions 10, was that the question about taking the question was the question! In other words, do you want to try to answer questions 10, was question 10.

Chuunin Exams Test 2 - The Forest:

This part of the Chuunin Exams takes place in Practice Area #44. Also called the "Forest of Death", because of it's poisonous plant life and vicious animals. Participants are briefed on the exam 30 minutes before hand, and each cell if given one of two scrolls. The objective is to try to obtain the scroll you don't have, and reach a tower which is located in the middle of the forest. There are 44 locked gates which circle around the forest of death, in which the participants simultaneously use to enter the forest.
Each scroll is given out in secret so other teams won't know which teams have which scrolls, and which person is carrying the scroll in each team. You lose if anyone on your team is killed, tries to open the scroll, or doesn't make it to the tower with both scrolls. If a participant tries to open one of the scrolls, they will set off a spell inside the scroll causing anyone who looks at it to fall unconscious until the test finishes.
26 different teams made it to this part of the Chuunin Exams and entered the "Forest of the Death", however, only seven different teams successfully made it through forest and passed this portion of the Chuunin Exams. The participants who passed are: Hinata, Shino, Kiba, Gaara, Kankuro, Temari, Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kabuto.

Chuunin Exams Test 3 - The Tournament:

After seeing how many people passed the previous test, an announcement is made saying that too many teams have made it through and the number of participants needs to be cut in half before the Chuunin Exams can continue. So a preliminary round is held. It's at about this point that Kabuto decides to quit, saying that his body is to exhausted to continue.

The preliminaries are made up of one-on-one fights between all the remaining participants. The fights were chosen at random, and the winner of each fight would be guaranteed a spot in the Third Test. If a draw occurs neither participant would move on. All participants along with their instructors watch the fights. You lose if you give up, die, become unconscious, or are unable to continue for some other reason.

Here's the list of who fought who in the preliminary matches. The name of character who won is stated first, except in the case of a draw, where the character names are in Italics.

The 3rd and final test in the Chuunin Exams, is fairly similar to the preliminary matches. Like the preliminary matches the fights are made up of one-on-one battles between all the remaining participants. The fights are also chosen at random. However, unlike the preliminaries, if you win one match you go on to fight another until there's only 1 person left. Also unlike the preliminaries, you only increase your chances of becoming a Chuunin, not guarantee them. Another change is the enormous amount of people watching each fight. This audience of people even includes several Kages, and people from many villages.

Due to Sakura and Ino's match ending in a draw, as well as Gaara killing Dosu before the Tournament could take place, only eight people were left to fight in the 3rd test of the Chuunin Exams.
Unfortunately, we never get to see this tournament finish because of Orochimaru launching his attack againast Konoha in the middle of the Exams, but I'll give a brief explanation of who I feel would have won.

In round 1 (Naruto vs. Neji), Naruto wins, as shown in the series. Round 2 (Gaara vs. Sasuke), we never get to see complete in the Tournament, but we do see complete elsewhere. Sasuke loses to Gaara, and Naruto manages to save Sasuke and beat Gaara. This also means Naruto would have made it to the finals if the tournament wasn't interrupted. Round 3 (Kankura vs. Shino), In the series Kankura forfeits due to un-related reasons, but if he was to actually fight Shino it is un-clear to me who would win. However when we see Shikamaru beat Temari in Round 4, it's almost 100% clear that Shikamaru could beat either of them. This then leaves Naruto and Shikamaru in the finals. Who would win? Well, most likely Naruto. Shikamaru's only chance would be to quickly beat Naruto before Naruto got angry or used his best attacks which he always waits to use until later. But, like I said it's very unlikely that Shikamaru would wipe out Naruto fast enough. As I previously stated we can't know who would have really won the tournament and this is only my best guesses as to how it would play out.

Clans Guide

Aburame Clan Origin: Konoha, Fire Country
One of the more unusual clans in the Naruto series, the Aburame have a close relationship and high knowledge of bugs. They allow thousands of bugs to live inside their body, and in return protect that body they are living in. Which results in the host being able to use bugs to attack.

Akimichi Clan Origin: Konoha, Fire Country
Renowned for their size and clumsy nature, the Akimichi clan is certainly one of the most devoted clans to Konoha village. This clan's members easily stand out in a crowd because of their large size and their love for food and eating, their size and abilities makes them a formidable opponent.

Hyuuga Clan Origin: Konoha, Fire Country
The Hyuuga clan is one of the truly noble clans of Konoha village. The clan consists of two families, the main family and the branch family. The lower, branch family is put into place to serve and protect the main family, and has done so for generations

Inuzuka Clan Origin: Konoha, Fire Country
The Inuzuka Clan may be one of the smaller clans in Konoha, but it's certainly not small in the specialist techniques department. The Inuzuka clan has a special relationship to canines, and are able to fully communicate with them. Not much is revealed as far as background and clan origins go.

Uchiha Clan Origin: Konoha, Fire Country
The Uchiha are arguably the strongest clan in Konoha next to the Hyuuga. To this day, the Uchiha clan has all been murdered and eradicated with only 2 remaining survivers. Uchiha Sasuke and Uchiha Itachi and one unknown surviver Madara Uchiha (Tobi)

Naruto Hand Seals

The ninja may use a hand seal like below to perform a jutsu. A ninja will also manipulate his chakra in order to do so. Not all jutsus need a hand seal, like Taijutsu, but the ninja might use a handseal only to focus their chakra to a centain area(s) of his body.

Kakashi Gaiden

The Kakashi Gaiden (カカシ外伝; Viz "Kakashi Chronicles"; Literally meaning "Kakashi Sidestory") is a six chapter spinoff of the Naruto manga. It takes place several years before the start of the series, but acts as an intermission between Part I and II of the series. It has now also been adapted by the anime. The story surrounds a 13 year-old Kakashi Hatake, who embarks on a mission with his team, which includes another boy named Obito Uchiha, from the same clan as Sasuke Uchiha, a medical-nin kunoichi named Rin, and their teacher, Minato Namikaze.

This arc answered many questions about Kakashi's past. It is learned how Kakashi receives his Sharingan, the identity of Obito, and when Kakashi became a Jonin. It also gives a first glimpse of what Minato was like when he was still alive.

Groups and Teams


Sometimes ninja in the world of Naruto will band together to form a specialized group or teams. Often the members will share unique traits or abilites. These range from the elite guards of Orochimaru, to the ninja playgroups of young Ninja Academy students.

Akatsuki Organization
Base of Operations: Wandering
Classification: Criminal Organization
Member Apearances: Deidara, Hidan, Hoshigaki Kisame, Kakuzu, Konan, Orochimaru, Pain, Sasori, Tobi, Uchiha Itachi


This organization consists of nine highly dangerous S-Ranked Missing-Nins. When traveling the group moves in groups of two, the partnerships are listed below.


Akatsuki: Deidara and Sasori
Base of Operations: Wandering
Classification: Specialized Ninja Squad


Akatsuki breaks its members into two-man partnerships to have them explore the world, collecting new jutsu and information on jinchuuriki. Akatsuki members Deidara and Sasori work together and are known for being artists. Deidara uses clay to model his explosive animals and Sasori is a master puppet maker. Deidara acts as the junior in their partnership, defering to Sasori as the stronger ninja. This does not stop them from getting into spats about the nature of art though.


Akatsuki: Deidara and Tobi
Base of Operations: Wandering
Classification: Specialized Ninja Squad


Akatsuki breaks its members into two-man partnerships to have them explore the world, collecting new jutsu and information on jinchuuriki. Akatsuki members Deidara and Tobi work together. Deidara uses clay to model his explosive animals; Tobi's jutsu are currently unknown. Deidara acts as the senior in their partnership.


Tobi replaced Sasori as Deidara's partner after Sasori fell in battle to his grandmother Chiyo and Sakura.

Akatsuki: Hidan and Kakuzu

Classification: Specialized Ninja Squad


Akatsuki breaks its members into two-man partnerships to have them explore the world, collecting new jutsu and information on jinchuuriki. Akatsuki members Hidan and Kakuzu work together and share a somewhat testy relationship. Hidan follows a very strict religion, which annoys Kakuzu with its long rituals. Hidan is very defensive of the religion, causing Kakuzu to often get tired of his partner's diatribes.


Akatsuki: Itachi and Kisame

Classification: Specialized Ninja Squad


Akatsuki breaks its members into two-man partnerships to have them explore the world, collecting new jutsu and information on jinchuuriki. Akatsuki members Kisame and Itachi were placed together. Itachi is one of the last surviving members of the Uchiha clan and Kisame is a former Seven Swordsman from Hidden Mist.


Akatsuki: Pain and Konan
Base of Operations: Wandering
Classification: Specialized Ninja Squad


Akatsuki breaks its members into two-man partnerships to have them explore the world, collecting new jutsu and information on jinchuuriki. Akatsuki members Pain and Konan work together. They appear to have a close relationship and seem to be the only two members to know the truth about the group's true plans.


Ame Orphan Trio
Base of Operations: Hidden Rain
Classification: Ninja Squad
Member Apearances: Konan, Nagato, Yahiko


After their country was torn apart by war, Konan, Nagato and Yahiko were orphaned. They came together in an effort to survive and met the Sannin. Jiraiya took it upon himself to train the trio in Ninjutsu. Upon completing their training, he left the group.

The trio would gather like-minded followers over the years, all in the hopes of bringing change to the warring ninja world. The group sought to make a lasting peace with Rain leader Hanzou, but he betrayed the group, resulting in the death of Yahiko. Nagato and Konan would go on to found Akatsuki and eventually kill Hanzou out of revenge.

Dotou's Snow Ninja
Base of Operations: Hidden Snow
Classification: Ninja Squad
Member Apearances: Fuyuguma Mizore, Kakuyoku Fubuki, Rouga Nadare, Kazahana Dotou


Kazahana Dotou sought power to combat the Five Great Shinobi Countries. He gathered a fighting force of ninja trained in ice attacks lead by the trio of Fuyuguma Mizore, Kakuyoku Fubuki and Rouga Nadare.


Four Sounds
Base of Operations: Hidden Sound
Classification: Specialized Ninja Squad
Member Apearances: Kidoumaru, Sakon, Tayuya, Ukon, Jiroubou


These four sound ninja serve as elite personal guards to Orochimaru. The membership of the group has varied in number.

The four current members of the group specialize in the formation of barriers. They used this technique to encompass Sandaime Hokage and Orochimaru when they begin their fight. Each member becomes one corner of the enclosure. Later they use this ability to seal Sasuke in a container to help his forced push into his cursed seal level 2 form. The Four Sounds were once known as the Five Sounds. The strongest member Kimimaro left the group due to illness.

Fuujin and Raijin ~ Legendary Stupid Brothers
Base of Operations: Fire Country
Classification: Siblings
Member Apearances: Fuujin, Raijin


The brothers Fuujin and Raijin were former Konoha ninja who were imprisoned after putting food ahead of their teammate's lives. After being captured, the brothers were put into prison for their crime.

The brothers would remain in prison until Mizuki saw an opportunity to exploit their power. He used the brothers to break out of prison and then seek revenge against Konoha.

Fuuma Clan Trio
Base of Operations: Hidden Sound
Classification: Ninja Squad/Clan
Member Apearances: Fuuma Kagerou, Fuuma Jigumo, Fumma Kamakiri


These three ninja hail from the Fuuma Clan. When their clan hit hard times after a war with a neighboring country, Orochimaru came to the Rice Field Country and invited them to join his new army. These three individuals decided their clan's future was best left to Orochimaru.

Like most of his soldiers, Orochimaru did not care for the Fuuma Trio's welfare. When Kagerou was gravely injured, Kamakiri and Jigumo begged Orochimaru to help. He declined so they attacked, and were easily cut down. Orochimaru still made use of the three's lifeless bodies in his cruel experiments.

Haido Knights

Haido sought to bring peace to the world through war and the manipulation of his victims. Using the power of the Gelel stone he invaded the continent of the shinobi villages. His forces were lead by four knights: Fugai, Kamira, Ranke and Temujin. All the knights had pieces of the stone lodged in their chests, granting them new power and abilities.


Ino Shika Cho (Jounin)

Named after the Japanese card game hand, Ino Shika Cho was a group of three Leaf ninja who used their attack formation to fight opponents. These men passed on these techniques and formation to their children. The Yamanaka clan specializes in mind-transfer, the Nara clan has unique shadow abilities and the Akimichi clan has the ability to modify the size of their bodies.

Yamanaka Inoichi, Nara Shikaku and Akimichi Chouza brought the formation out of retirement during the invasion of Leaf Village by the villages of Sand and Sound.

Janin (Evil Ninja)

The Janin were three brothers who set out to take control of the Vegetable Country by killing the Daimyou and hunting his heir down.


Jashin

Akatsuki member Hidan believes in a Jashin (Evil God) cult. He wears a beaded necklace with a charm bearing their symbol. He is very strict about following its rules, including praying before battle and ensuring some form of death comes out of it. After he has defeated his foe he also takes part in a bloody ritual using the religion's symbol. The rite involves laying on the symbol and driving a spike through his chest.


Kamizuru Clan Trio

The Kamizuru Clan was once a powerful bug user clan in Hidden Rock. They sought the Bikouchou tracking bug in the hopes it would lead them to their grandfather's hidden kinjutsu scrolls.


Konohamaru Corps ~ Team Ebisu

The grandson of Sandaime Hokage, Konohamaru, formed his own ninja play group. Sometimes Naruto plays "ninja" with them.

Right before the start of the Chuunin Exam, Kankurou of the three Sand Genin bullied the Konohamaru Corps. Naruto, unable to defend them, relunctantly stood aside as Sasuke saved them.

The Konohamaru Corps would go on to become a three man Genin group after their graduation from the Academy. They would work under the direction of Konohamaru's sensei Ebisu.

Konoha Barrier Team

The Konoha Barrier Team is responsible for monitoring the defensive alert barrier which covers Konoha. When any intruders try to pass through the barrier, the team will be immediately notified.


Konoha Military Police Corps

Originally founded by the ancestors of the Uchiha clan, the Konoha Military Police Corps are responsible for maintaining city peace and law enforcement.

The First Subdivision of the Corps once contained many members of the Uchiha clan. Uchiha Sasuke himself one day dreamed of joining his father in the Police Corps, but after his clan was wiped, his goal in life changed to finding and killing his brother Itachi.

Kurosuki Family

After fleeing the Water Country, Kurosuki Raiga formed a criminal gang to exploit a gold mine in the River Country. Anyone who crossed Raiga was buried alive. The Kurosuki family members were known for the metal claws they wore on their hands.


Oni (Demon) Brothers

These two brothers are missing-nins from Hidden Mist. They work under the direction of Momochi Zabuza.

Working under the direction of Zabuza, the Demon brothers were ordered to find and kill Tazuna. The brothers wear poison tipped claws and are connected by an edged chain. The brothers work in tandem with one brother launching the other into the air to encircle their opponent with chain and then rip them to shreds.

When the brothers surprised Team 7 it appeared at first that they had killed Hatake Kakashi. When they were seconds away from killing Tazuna, Kakashi appeared to stop the two brothers. It had turned out Kakashi had been aware of their presence the whole time and let them attack just to see who their target was. It is unknown what happened to the Demon Brothers after being captured.

Ryuudouin Clan Trio

The Ryuudouin Clan were once a powerful wood training men using clan. Maito Gai defeated the clan head in battle, and his sons Rokkaku, Jakou and Genshou swore vengeance.


Sand Siblings ~ Team Baki

The sand siblings were a Genin group under the command of Sand Jounin Baki. All three were the children of Yondaime Kazekage.

The siblings would take missions without the direction of their Jounin sensei Baki. Such was the case when they were requested by Tsunade to help Shikamaru's team when they went to retrieve Sasuke.

When the group eventually advanced in rank, they typically did not take missions anymore. Gaara acted fulltime as Kazekage and Temari became a liason with Konoha, often going being outside of the Wind Country for periods of time.

Sannin ~ Team Hiruzen

The three highly skilled Hidden Leaf ninja are known as the Legendary "Sannin," or Legendary "Three Ninja." All three were initially Genin teammates under the Sandaime Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen. As the years passed their legend grew due to their skills and excellence as ninja.

The Legendary ninja Orochimaru fled his village after using Kinjutsu (banned arts). Jiraiya wandered the country enganging in "research" for his line of erotic adult books. Tsunade also left her village, mainly seeking opportunities to better her bad gamblers luck.

Seven Swordsmen Shinobi of the Mist

These seven ninja from the Village of Hidden Mist are known for their sword wielding. Former members include Momochi Zabuza, Hoshigaki Kisame and Kurosuki Raiga. The group was known for passing on their swords to the next generation of members. One trainee, Suigetsu, hoped to one day become a member of the group. Choujuurou would carry on the tradition and inherit the sword of a former member at an early age.

Hoshigaki Kisame's Samehada (Shark Skin) sword had specially cast jutsu properties that allowed it to suck the chakra out of those near it. It was also covered in shark skin which allowed it to rip an enemies flesh from the bone.

Raiga's swords were used in conjunction with his lightning jutsu. Raiga could build up an electric charge in his swords which he could then fire at his opponents. He could also charge the swords, ram them into the ground and then send out tendrils of lightning.

It is unknown if Zabuza's sword contained any special abilities, since he did not explicitly use any in his battle against Kakashi, it is presumed it did not hold any. This sword was eventually taken by former Mist Seven trainee Suigetsu. Formerly captive by Orochimaru, he was freed and took up Zabuza's legacy.

Shinobazu

Shinobazu were rogue ninja who left their villages behind to take up robbery in the Forest Country.

Group member Gantetsu grew tired of their murderous tendencies and began to steal from the groups ill gotten gains to provide for many of the children of the families murdered by the group. Gantetsu gave himself up for prosecution in the hopes Shinobazu would come for him and be captured too. His wish was granted, as they were all defeated in battle. Gantetsu was then allowed to take care of the kids and avoid trial.

ShitenShounin
Base of Operations: Takumi Village

Four skilled weapons users from Takumi Village planned to use the resurrection of their village founder to seek revenge against the Five Great Shinobi Countries. They operated under the name Shitenshounin, or the Four Heavenly Directions. This name stemmed from the characters in their name matching with the deities of the directions: Houki the Turtle, Kujaku the Bird, Ryuugan the Dragon and Suiko the Tiger.


Sound Genin

The Sound Genin were trained separately by Orochimaru and brought together to participate in the Chuunin Exam. Orochimaru took on a disguise and acted as their Jounin sensei.

All three of the Sound Genin were killed. Dosu was killed by Gaara, and Kin and Zaku were used by Orochimaru as sacrifices for his Edo Tensei jutsu.

Team 7

Team 7 was one of the skilled rookie Genin squads in Konoha, consisting of Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura and Uchiha Sasuke under Jounin Sensei Hatake Kakashi. Membership on the team changed over the years.

When Uchiha Sasuke left Konoha, he was later replaced by ANBU Root member Sai. When Kakashi was recuperating from battle, ANBU member Yamato replaced him.

Team 8

Team 8 was one of the skilled rookie Genin squads in Konoha, consisting of Aburame Shino, Hyuuga Hinata and Inuzuka Kiba & Akamaru under Jounin Sensei Yuuhi Kurenai.

After Kurenai became pregnant, Kakashi took over as leader of Team 8. It is unknown how long his tenure will last.

Team 10

After Asuma fell in battle, Kakashi replaced him as temporary squad leader.

Team Gai

Team Gai was one of the skilled Genin squads in Konoha, consisting of Hyuuga Neji, Rock Lee and TenTen under Jounin Sensei Maito Gai.

Team Gai continued to go on missions together, even after Lee and TenTen became Chuunin and Neji became Jounin.

Team Jiraiya

Team Jiraiya was a ninja squad in Hidden Leaf. The team consisted of Namikaze Minato, who would become Yondaime Hokage, and two other unnamed ninja under the leadership of Jiraiya.


Team Kabuto

Team Kabuto was one of the Genin teams participating in the Chuunin Exam. The three Genin draw their names from samurai accoutrements: Kabuto (helmet), Yoroi (armor) and Tsurugi (sword).

All the Genin on this team were actually spies for Hidden Sound. It is unknown what relationship their sensei had to Hidden Sound or if he even knew they were spies.

Team Kegon

Team Kegon was one of the Genin teams participating in the Chuunin Exam. Kegon and his team passed the first portion of the test but did not make it past the second. During the second test the team had the Earth scroll and left from Gate 23.


Team Tobirama

Team Tobirama was a ninja squad in Hidden Leaf. The team consisted of Sarutobi Hiruzen, Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu under the leadership of the Nidaime Hokage Senju Tobirama. This skilled team would go on to lead Konoha after the passing of the brothers Hashirama and Tobirama. Hiruzen would become Sandaime Hokage and Homura and Koharu would become village advisors.


Team Oboro

Team Oboro was one of the Genin teams participating in the Chuunin Exam.

Though Team Oboro did not pass the second test of the exam, they remained a team. They later harassed Team 7 during the Tea Country Todoroki Shrine Race.

Team Shigure had the unfortunate circumstance of meeting the Sand Siblings in the second test of the Chuunin Exam. Feeling confident of their abilities they moved to kill Gaara, unfortunately the underestimated the young man he coldly and easily killed them.

Team Shiore

Team Shiore was one of the Genin teams participating in the Chuunin Exam.

Team Shiore was murdered by Orochimaru before the start of the second test. Orochimaru and his men then impersonated the team to get access to Uchiha Sasuke.

Team Snake was formed for Sasuke's own ends.

After Sasuke defeated Orochimaru, he began to free captives held by Orochimaru. Among them were Mist Seven Swordsmen trainee Suigetsu, a kunoichi guard named Karin who was infatuated with Sasuke and the original source of Orochimaru's cursed seal power, Juugo. After gathering the group together, Sasuke revealed he planned to kill his brother Itachi. He then dubbed the group with their "Hebi" (Snake) name. After Sasuke defeated Itachi in battle, Uchiha Madara revealed the truth of Itachi's nature to Sasuke. Sasuke then chose to side with Madara and changed the group name to "Taka" (Hawk).

Team Minato

Team Minato was a ninja squad in Hidden Leaf. The team consisted of Hatake Kakashi, Rin and Uchiha Obito under the leadership of the Yondaime Hokage Namikaze Minato.

Team Minato last fought as a complete team in the war with Hidden Rock. Unfortunately Uchiha Obito lost his life in battle, though not before donating his eye to Kakashi.

Twelve Elite Guardians

The Twelve Guardians are an elite group assigned to protect the Fire Country Daimyou. The members are identified by the "Fire" kanji marked loincloths they wear.

When Asuma and Chiriku were part of the Twelve Elite Guardians, they saw the group split due to the beliefs of member Kazuma. Kazuma believed that the Fire Country should be militarily lead by the Daimyou, rather than by Konoha and its Hokage. He and five other members challenged the other half of the group under Asuma and Chiriku. Four of the Guardians, Kitane, Nauma, Tou'u and Seitou sacrificed their lives using their powerful Raiton jutsu to take out the members plotting the coup. Kazuma himself managed to survive and took on Asuma directly. Asuma fought him one on one and ended the coup threat. Some years later, a man named Furido used a resurrection jutsu to revive the four dead loyal Guardians. He sought to use their powerful Raiton jutsu to destroy Konoha and finally take out the Hokage.

Yomi's Yon Ninshuu (Four Man Team)

Yomi and his four man team operated out of the Demon Country. Yomi was a survivor of a shinobi clan who served under Mouryou, a powerful demonic entity which had its soul split from its physical body. Yomi sought to revive Mouryou and allowed him to inhabit his body. Yomi used Mouryou's demonic power to grant his four man team access to elemental and dark chakra not their own.

Ninja Clothing

The Hidden Villages in the world of Naruto each have their own unique variations on the ninja uniform. The basic uniform consists off a flak jacket which holds scrolls, a pouch attached to the thigh that holds kunai and shuriken and a back pouch that contains more kunai, shuriken, exploding notes or caltrops.

Variations of the jacket will remove these features, such as the shoulder pads and pockets.

Tools and Equipment Guide

In addition to the weapon a ninja carries into battle, they will also carry items which may help them escape from traps or protect and heal themselves.


Breath Mask

Ninja from Hidden Rain sometimes wear a breath mask for their missions. The mask allows the ninja to breathe underwater and in harsh air conditions.

Chakra Control Device

This device developed in the Snow Country, can be used to suck out the chakra of a captured enemy combatant. This will prevent them from using chakra to create jutsu. The device also creates an impenetrable wall around the prisoner, preventing them from removing the device.

File

A file is normally hidden within the clothing of the ninja, if captured, the file can be withdrawn from its secret location to file and cut through metal.

Hunter Disposal Kit

Hunter ninja will track down and kill any ninja who commit crimes and flee their village. After kiling the criminal, they will dispose of the body to prevent any of the village's secrets from falling into enemy hands.

Mirror

When the ninja wants to avoid putting themself directly in the possible line of attack, they can use the mirror to peak around corners to ensure the path is clear.

Radio

The short range radio is capable of keeping ninja in contact across several miles. The radio can accept multiple frequencies and is activated to talk by pushing a button on the neck attachment.

Range Finder

The range finder can function both as binoculars and as a means to measure the distance to a target.

Scrolls

Scrolls remain one of the most important pieces of equipment in a ninja's arsenal. Because of their size, multiple scrolls can be carried into battle in the front pouches of a flak jacket or in a pouch. This will save space and not sacrifice a much needed piece of equipment which may be required later. The scroll allows the ninja to summon creatures, people and items to their aid.

Wire

Wire can be used in several situations. It can allow the ninja to create trip wire explosive traps, it can be used in rappeling, or as a method to tie down and restrict the movement of an opponent.

Weapons Guide

An additional aid in a ninjas' arsenal are the weapons they carry into battle. The normal weapon of a ninja consists of shuriken and kunai they carry in holsters on their body. In addition a ninja can utilize strength boosting pills to aid in battle or unique weapons they can use with exceptional deadliness.


Concealed Mouth Ember

When going into battle, a ninja may store a small combustible ember in their mouth. The ember must be bitten to be activated. The ninja can then spit the ember at a combustible substance to help ignite it.

Exploding Note

The exploding note is a piece of parchment paper which has script on it that serves to faciltate its explosive properties. The ninja can attach the note to another object such as a kunai or log. When the note is set it begins a slow burn which results in a large explosion.

Exploding Pouch

A variation on the exploding note, these small pouches can be attached to a target and then explode a few seconds later.

Exploding Smoke Grenade

When the pin is pulled on this grenade, the result is a large explosion and the release of smoke. This allows the ninja to carry out their manuevers in secret.

Hero Water

This special water from Hidden Waterfall allows a ninja to have a ten-fold increase in chakra for a short period of time. By drinking drops of the water, the ninja of the village could increase their fighting ability to compensate for their villages lack of a strong Kage leader. Unfortunately in exchange for the power, the water also eats away at your life.

HyourouGan (Soldier Provision Pills)

When the soldier pill is swallowed, it allows the ninja to fight for several days without rest. The pill is full of proteins and a special stimulant that momentarily increases the ninja's chakra.

Kunai

This throwing knife is one of the common weapons of a ninja. It is often kept in a holster on the leg in a pouch attached to the belt.

The Kunai can be used in conjunction with explosive tags and other weapons to form deadly combos.

Makibishi

This weapon is primarily used during escape, numerous makibishi are thrown on the ground and enemy soldiers will have a difficult time pursuing because the spiked metal can penetrate the sole of the shoe wear.

Senbon (Needle)

The senbon was first used by doctors in acupuncture, it was then adopted by ninja and Hunter-nins to hit points on the body to cause death, deaden limbs or cause their target to fall unconscious.

Shuriken

Another common weapon, the shuriken is often kept in a holster on the leg or in a pouch attached to the belt.

Umbrella

This weapon is used by Rain ninja. Worn on the back, the ninja can quickly open the umbrella and hurl it into the air. While spinning in the air, the umbrella can unleash a rain of needles upon the target.

Windmill Shuriken

In its folded state, all four arms of the shuriken are folded together. When full unfolded the large shuriken can be thrown through the air causing great damage.

Personalized Weapon Guide

In addition to the weapons every ninja carries, some ninjas have taken on personalized weapons with which they have developed special skills. One specialized used of bladed weapons is in Kenjutsu (Sword Techniques). This style is practiced by the Mist Seven Swordsmen, samurai of the Iron Country and by ninja from other shinobi villages.

Generally these will be actual physical manifestations of weapons in some form, rather than elemental attacks created by jutsu such as mud or fire.
Nunchaku
Gai's Nunchaku

Gai carries along a set of nunchaku on his missions. When battles move in close, Gai can withdraw these weapons to deal direct damage to his opponent.

Bladed Weapons
Asuma's Knuckle Knives

These deadly knives belong to the Leaf Jounin Asuma. The combination of brass knuckles and knife prove a deadly weapon to any foe Asuma faces. Asuma can also extend his chakra through the metal of the blade and out the end using his Hien technique. This causes the blade to lengthen with an added chakra edge. This hidden danger can act as a surprise to enemies who misjudge the distance they will need to maneuver to avoid the deadly blades.

GamaBunta's Daggers

The toad boss Gamabunta carries two personal daggers. Giant in size, these daggers can be utilized by either Gamabunta or any powerful ninja who can lift and maneuver their weight.

Hanzaki's Zanbatou

Fuuma Hanzaki carries this large Zanbatou long sword.

Hatake Family Tanto

This tanto belonged to Kakashi's father Hatake Sakumo, who was known as "Konoha's White Fang." Using the blade, the unique white chakra will pour forth from Kakashi and his father.

Hayate's Sword

This katana is utilized by the Leaf ninja Gekko Hayate. Using this blade, Hayate does the Dance of the Crescent Moon technique. This is an advanced technique that creates multiple copies of the user while the real version attacks from the opponents blindside.

Hidan's 3-Bladed Scythe

Akatsuki member Hidan uses a large three-bladed scythe which he can throw at his opponents. Using a rope running from his arm to the scythe itself, he can launch the whole thing to give him added versatility. This may be due to his reputed slower attack speed among the group.

Hiramekarei

This large sword features vents which allows concentrated chakra to eject and take different forms. Choujuurou gained this weapon by being a member of the Mist Seven swordsmen, an elite ninja squad of Hidden Mist village.

Idate's Knife

Idate was given this knife by Boss Jirocho of the Tea Country. He gave it to Idate as a sign of trust in the young man in his new position as his subordinate.

Kakkou's Retractable Wrist Blades

Stone ninja Kakkou has retractable wrist blades attached to his forearms. These blades can spring forth when needed to surprise any opponent he fights hand to hand.

Kamakiri's Scissor Pinchers

Kamakiri lives up to his "praying mantis" name by utilizing a pair of scissor-like pinchers. These pinchers can be squeezed to pinch and slice through any opponent.

Karui and Omoi's Swords

Cloud ninjas Karui and Omoi carry similar looking katanas on their backs. Both are skilled in the use of their weapon, having trained under skilled blade master Killer Bee.

Kimimaro's Bone Swords

Because of his unique Bloodline ability, the Sound ninja Kimimaro can remove bones from his body at will. After removing the bone, the sword is then created. Because the removed bone can become harder than steel, this sword can become a very reliable weapon.

Kotetsu's Giant Kunai

Kotetsu carries two large kunai on his back. Kotetsu can work in tandem with Kamizuki Izumo to wield both with deadly results.

Kotetsu's Shell Mace

Kotetsu has a large mace with a spiked conch-type shell head. Due to its size Kotetsu keeps the mace in an easily accessible summoning scroll until needed.

Kubikiri Houchou (Decapitating Carving Knife)

This long head cleaving sword was the primary weapon of Momochi Zabuza. Zabuza gained this weapon by being a member of the Mist Seven swordsmen, an elite ninja squad of Hidden Mist village. When Zabuza fled his village, he brought this sword along with him. This sword was eventually obtained by former Mist ninja Suigetsu, who trained in the hopes of one day becoming a Mist Seven member.

Kujaku's Two Soushouken (Dual Rising Blades)

Craftsman kunoichi Kujaku wields two blades crafted in her home village. These two swords can redirect wind attacks and bring out their maximum potential using a minimum amount of chakra. With these blades she can also generate wind-based attacks.

Kumo-Nenkin Spikes

Utilizing his body's ability to create kumo-nenkin (golden spider thread) from both his pores and his mouth, Kidoumaru uses the thread to fashion weapons that are as hard as metal. With the thread he can make spikes and daggers to hurl at an enemy.

Kurosuki Raiga's Swords

Raiga's swords are used in conjunction with his lightning jutsu. Raiga can build up an electric charge in his swords which he can then fire at his opponents. He can also charge the swords, ram them into the ground and then send out tendrils of lightning.

Kusanagi (Grasscutter)

The legendary sword Kusanagi is the personal weapon of the Sannin Orochimaru. When unneeded the sword is kept within Orochimaru's body. When he wishes to utilize it, he will open his mouth wide and have it extend from his chest cavity through his throat.

Mahiru's Sword

Stone ninja Mahiru served as an advanced recon soldier. He carried this sword on his missions into enemy territory.

Nidaime's Raijin Sword

The legendary Raijin (God of Lightning) sword belonged to the Second Hokage. After his death, it remained in Konoha as a legendary artifact. Leaf ninja Aoi convinced Idate to steal the sword. Aoi then took the weapon to Hidden Rain and defected to their village.

Oni Brothers

The Oni (Demon) Brothers are missing-nins from Hidden Mist Village. The two brothers wear large clawed devices on one of their hands. Running between the claws connecting the brothers is a edged chain that can cut anyone who gets near it. The brothers work in a formation where one brother will launch the other into the air and surprise their opponent, while flying through the air the brother can wrap the chain around an opponent. Pulling the chain taught, the brothers can then shred their victim to pieces. The brothers aren't limited to the restriction of the chain either, they can disconnect the chain and just use the poision soaked claws to attack an opponent.

Ryuugan's Gariantou (Garian Blade)

Craftsman ninja Ryuugan wields a blade crafted in his home village. This sword has three blade made up of segments pieces connected via wire. These segments respond to user's chakra to extend in the form of dragons that can bite.

Samehada (Sharkskin)

This large sword features shark skin scales running down its length which serve to rip the flesh from those it strikes. Kisame gained this weapon by being a member of the Mist Seven swordsmen, an elite ninja squad of Hidden Mist village. Samehada itself is sentient to a degree, having the ability to consume and pass chakra back to its owner. Samehada can also merge with its owner, granting them a shark-like appearance.

Samurai Sword

These swords are wielded by the mercenary samurai Waraji and Zouri.

Sasuke's Kusanagi (Grass Cutter)

Studying under Orochimaru, Sasuke began using his own Kusanagi (Grass Cutter). Using this sword with his Chidori Nagashi technique, Sasuke was able to greatly increase its' cutting ability. Virtually nothing could stop this blade when it sought its target.

Yondaime's "Flying Thunder God" Kunai

Yondaime Hokage would mark kunai and other weapons with a rite, which allowed him to transport across time and space to its location. This specific kunai was given to Hatake Kakashi on his advancement to Jounin, it was marked with such a rite.

Ranged Weapons
Dosu's Sound Amplifier

The Sound Genin Dosu wears a sound amplifying device on his right arm. This weapon vibrates at such a range so as to disrupt the inner ear membrane of his target. This can result in extreme disorientation and dizziness.

Fubuki's Ice Bombs

Fubuki has attached wings to her chakra armor. As she flies above her opponent, she will unleash these ice bombs attached to kunai. Then the kunai impact her target, the bombs will explode in a torrent of ice spikes. These rising ice is powerful enough to lift several tons off the ground.

Haku's Flying Water Needles

Created using a secret jutsu unique to Haku, the deadly flying needles are created from any nearby water Haku can find. Once created, Haku can control the needles through chakra and force of will. The needles can float into the air and come raining down on an opponent at Haku's command.

Kimimaro's Finger Bullets

Because of his unique Bloodline ability, the Sound ninja Kimimaro can remove bones from his body at will. With this technique, Kimimaro can literally turn his fingers into projectile launchers. Aiming his fingers at his opponent he can launch his distal phalange bones as bullets.

Kin's Bells

Though they resemble normal bells, this weapon of the Sound ninja Kin possesses unique qualites. As an attack, Kin will launch needles that have wire and a bell attached. Using the wire, Kin can shake the needle and cause the bell to vibrate. These bells emit a special frequency that then causes the inner ear of her target to vibrate, resulting in hallucinations.

Kumo-Nenkin Bow and Arrows

Utilizing his body's ability to create kumo-nenkin (golden spider thread)from both his pores and his mouth, Kidoumaru uses the thread to fashion weapons that are as hard as metal. With the thread he can make a large bow with which to fire his kumo-nenkin arrows.

Mizore's Chakra Armor Hand

Snow ninja Mizore has augmented his chakra armor will a large clawed hand. This hand can detatch and be shot at his opponents to grab ahold of them. It can also fire out a sticky rope to tie up his enemy.

Mizuki's Giant Shuriken

The Leaf Chuunin Mizuki utilized these giant shuriken after he convinced Naruto to steal the forbidden jutsu scroll. These large shuriken are hurled by the user at an opponent, their large size increasing the damage they inflict as they fly through the air.

Mubi's Crossbow

Rain ninja Mubi carries a four bolt crossbow. This crossbow can fire normal arrows, flaming arrows or grappling arrows.

Naruto's Summoned Giant Shuriken

In the second part of the Naruto series, Naruto carries a summoning scroll holding a giant shuriken. Storing weapons in summoning scrolls allows Naruto to carry more weapons into combat and not hinder his freedom of movement.

Shikamaru's Light Bombs

Shikamaru depends on light to be able to utilize his Kage Mane jutsu. In situations where he needs more light to cast a longer shadow, he will use these light bombs. They are marked with "hikari" meaning light.

Shizune's Needle Launcher

Hidden on her right forearm, Shizune has a needle launcher which she can use to send poison tipped needles at her opponent. After lifting her sleeve she can pull the launch cable taught and then let it loose, which will launch the five poison tipped needles towards her target.

Tayuya's Flute

This flute is used by the Sound ninja Tayuya. The flute allows her to control the Doki she summons, she can also use the flute to cast illusion spells to confuse her opponent.

TenTen's Summoned Weapons

Though she does not appear to carry many weapons, TenTen uses several scrolls containing many weapons she can throw with deadly accuracy. By being able to summon kunai, shuriken and other edged weapons whenever she wants, TenTen can pose a serious problem to any enemy she faces. These weapons include such things as Bakuretsu no Yaiba (Exploding Blades), which is a spiked bomb which explodes blades upon impact.

Temari's Kyodai Sensu (Gigantic Fan)

Temari carries this large fan on her back. When needed, the fan can unfold and create a large cyclonic wind. Temari is able to imbue her chakra into the wind, which allows her to hold the victim as the wind slices them to pieces.

Temari also utilizes her fan when she wishes to summon. She unfolds her fan, spreads her blood on the fan and with a quick swing her summon arrives in the air to carry out a slicing attack with the wind.

Uchiha Clan Sharingan Windmill Triple Blade

A unique technique to the Uchiha clan, the Sharingan Windmill Triple Blade utilizes multiple large shuriken with wire attached. Hurled through the air the clan member can control the direction of the shuriken to have it encircle the opponent with the wire to restrain them. Having the upper hand, the clan member can then attack the restrained opponent with another ranged jutsu. In Sasuke's case, he used this technique in conjunction with a fire technique, incinerating his opponent.

Zaku's Air Vents

The Sound Genin Zaku has had his arms modified to contain air vents. When used in conjunction with jutsu techniques, Zaku can control supersonic waves and air pressure. This allows him to release massive gusts of air at his opponent. The gust is so strong that it can even destroy rock.

Staff And Spears
Chouza's Staff

Akimichi Chouza has the ability to alter the size of his body at will. Chouza utilizes a personal staff weapon that has the ability to grow in size as he does.

Enma Kongou-Nyo Form

Elder Monkey Enma, one of the personal summons of the Third Hokage, has the ability to transform into a Kongou-Nyo (diamond hard staff) weapon. In this form he can extend himself to varying lengths. While in the staff form he can also partially transform back into his normal form, allowing him to open an eye to view the situation or extend an arm to grapple with a foe.

Gamaken's Staff and Shield

Giant toad summon Gamaken wields a large forked sasumata-like staff and shield combo.

Kimimaro's Flowering Spear

After attaining his level two cursed seal form, Kimimaro can create a large flowering spear on his forearm. It is said this spear can pierce any enemy shield.

Whips
Kimimaro's Spinal Vine Whip

After attaining his level two cursed seal form, Kimimaro removes his spinal column. He then extends it to form a long spiked vine whip that has the ability to flex and bend around his target.

Accessories Guide

In addition to the weapons a ninja carries, the ninja will often have personalized accessories which are important to them.


Deidara's Clay Pouch

Deidara is an artist and uses modeling clay in his jutsu. Using the mouths on the palm of each hand, Deidara will withdraw a glob of clay, consume it with the hand mouth and then expel whatever piece of art he needs for his attacks.

Gaara's Gourd

Gaara wears this large gourd on his back which contains sand. Gaara uses this sand to kill his opponents. Their blood mixes with the sand and returns to the gourd. When returned the bloody sand gives power to the sand demon Shukaku.

Genma's Toothpick

Genma can often be seen chewing on a toothpick. This toothpick can also function as a weapon in battle. Similar to a senbon, Genma can spit the toothpick at his opponents to injure them. He can also spit it at incoming projectiles to knock them away.

Haku's Hunter-Nin Mask

To help further portray himself as a Hidden Mist Hunter-Nin, Haku wears one of their masks.

Hidan's Necklace

Akatsuki member Hidan believes in an Evil God cult. He wears a beaded necklace with a charm bearing their symbol. He is very strict about following its rules, including praying before battle and ensuring some form of death comes out of it. After he has defeated his foe he also takes part in a bloody ritual using this same symbol.

Hokage Necklace

Made from a rare expensive ore, this necklace belonged to the First Hokage. He passed it on to his granddaughter Tsunade. Tsunade then gave it to her brother on his twelfth birthday but he died the next day. Tsunade then gave it to her boyfriend who also died soonafter. Both men dreamed of becoming Hokage but the necklace seemed to carry bad luck. When Naruto drove himself to fight with Tsunade, she saw he could fulfill his dream to become Hokage one day. For that reason she felt the necklace had found someone deserving so she gave it to him as a present.

Ichaicha Paradaisu (Make-out Paradise)

Written by one of the Sannin Jiraiya, Make-out Paradise is an "adult" novel series dealing with love and sexuality. Hatake Kakashi can almost always be seen reading one of the volumes when he has free time.

Konohamaru Corps Goggles

Once worn by Naruto, the Konohamaru Corps now wears this model of goggle. Once Naruto graduated the academy, he replaced his goggles with his Leaf forehead protector.

Naruto's Wallet

Though Jiraiya's actions often result in the toad wallet becoming empty, Naruto does his best to save his money made from missions to make his little toad wallet fat and happy.

Rock Lee's Databook

Containing the wise words of Gai-sensei, Rock Lee carries this small book and pencil to recall the various bits of information Gai has given him over time.

Rock Lee's Training Weights

Though an old fashioned training method, Maito Gai made Lee use these extremely heavy weights to increase his speed and movement. The weights are worn under the warmers on Lee's lower legs. When removed, Lee gains a great increase in his speed and mobility. The weights are marked with the kanji for "guts".

Sai's Drawing Book

Sai keeps a drawing book which belonged to his brother. The book featured a young Sai on one side, and a younger version of his brother on the other.

Sakura's Gloves

Sakura now dons gloves on her hands any time she utilizes her fists for powerful strikes. Because of her training under Tsunade, Sakura's strikes now carry a huge amount of forceful impact.

Yakushi Kabuto's Nin-Info Cards

Kabuto carries around this collection of 200 cards. The cards contain information on all the Hidden Villages and the skilled ninjas which inhabit them.

Kage Guide

Out of all the shinobi countries of the world of Naruto, the five most powerful are allowed to call their leaders by the Kage (Shadow) title. These five individuals are called the "Five Kage," they are Watershadow (Mizukage), Fireshadow (Hokage), Windshadow (Kazekage) , Earthshadow (Tsuchikage) and Lightningshadow (Raikage). The Kage are the leaders of their respective hidden villages and the ninja which inhabit their country. So far eleven Kage have had some part in the world of Naruto. They are depicted below. Warning! The listing of these Kage go through the most recent chapters of the manga. So you may see Kage who have yet to appear in your viewing of the anime.


Shodai Hokage (First Fire Shadow)

One of the founders of Leaf, Senju Hashirama helped establish the ideal of all the Hokage who followed. The Hokage serves as the foundation which Leaf village sits. The Hokage would love his village and do all in his power to protect it, even giving his life in the line of duty to ensure its survival.

Nidaime Hokage (Second Fire Shadow)

Senju Tobirama also helped in the founding of Leaf, he was the younger brother of Hashirama. Like Shodai Hokage, Tobirama helped establish the principle that the Hokage will die for those people precious to them.

Sandaime Hokage (Third Fire Shadow)

Sandaime Hokage became Hokage at a very young age. He was chosen as Hokage over another talented ninja named Danzou. Sarutobi Hiruzen was known as the Professor, a ninja with extraordinary skill and knowledge of jutsu. He would later pass on his knowledge to his students Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru. Jiraiya would then in turn pass on his knowledge to Namikaze Minato, who would become Yondaime Hokage. After Yondaime Hokage's death, the Sandaime came out of retirement to lead his village again.

Yondaime Hokage (Fourth Fire Shadow)

Sandaime Hokage first wanted Orochimaru to succeed him, but his evil ways caused Hiruzen to choose Namikaze Minato instead. Yondaime Hokage was faced with a difficult challenge not long after being appointed. One of the great demons, the Kyuubi fox attacked his village. Many ninja died and Yondaime had to give his life to beat the Kyuubi and imprison him in his newborn son. His death caused the Sandaime Hokage to come out of retirement and act as Hokage once again.

Godaime Hokage (Fifth Fire Shadow)

Though Tsunade was the granddaughter of Shodai Hokage and a student of the Sandaime Hokage, she was reluctant to become Godaime Hokage. Her boyfriend and little brother both had dreams of becoming Hokage and died while trying to further that goal. When she met Uzumaki Naruto she thought that he was also going down a foolish path, but his hard work and determination inspired her to think that becoming Hokage was a worthwhile thing.

Rokudaime Hokage (Sixth Fire Shadow)

After Tsunade exhausted herself saving the village when Akatsuki leader Pain attacked, she fell into an unconscious state. Danzou then made his move to convince the Fire Country Daimyou that he was the best choice to be the next Hokage.

Shodai Kazekage (First Wind Shadow)

Shodai Kazekage helped found Hidden Sand and went on to become its kage.

Nidaime Kazekage (Second Wind Shadow)

Nidaime Kazekage served as the kage of Hidden Sand.

Sandaime Kazekage (Third Wind Shadow)

Sandaime Kazekage was said to be the most gifted kage in Hidden Sand's history with his ability to manipulate Iron Sand. He disappeared under mysterious circumstances right before war broke out. Years later it was revealed he was killed by expert puppet maker Sasori and turned into his most prized puppet.

Yondaime Kazekage (Fourth Wind Shadow)

Yondaime Kazekage replaced his predecessor who disappeared under myserious circumstances. He was the father of Gaara, Temari and Kankurou and he ordered the Shukaku demon be implanted into his unborn son Gaara. After falling in battle to Orochimaru, a new Kazekage was appointed to replace him.

Godaime Kazekage (Fifth Wind Shadow)

After Naruto and Jiraiya left for 2 1/2 years to train, Gaara was appointed as Godaime Kazekage of Hidden Sand. The village council appointed Gaara on the notion he was now more in control of his homicidal tendencies.

Mizukage (Water Shadow)

The Mizukage is the leader of Hidden Mist Village. Uchiha Madara revealed his true identity to a select few, including Hoshigaki Kisame. When Kisame saw the man he was put at ease, as the man he knew as Madara was also his Mizukage. The exact nature of his position as Mizukage is unclear. Due to Madara's age, he could have been Yondaime or any previous Mizukage.

Yondaime Mizukage (Fourth Water Shadow)

Yagura was both the Mizukage and the Jinchuuriki for the Sanbi Bijuu. Under Yondaime's reign, bloody civil strife was rampant leading to the village earning the name "Blood Mist" Village. Mist ninja Momochi Zabuza attempted to assassinate the Mizukage, it is unknown whether he went after Yondaime or Godaime. The Kage escaped harm, and Zabuza was forced to flee the country. During this time there were rumors Akatsuki was controlling Yagura. When Akatsuki eventually captured the Sanbi, it was free of Yondaime. What happened to Yagura is unclear.

Godaime Mizukage (Fifth Water Shadow)

Some time after Yondaime Mizukage's reign came to an end, Terumii Mei became Godaime Mizukage. As Mizukage, she hopes to not repeat her village's bloody past.

Yondaime Raikage (Fourth Lightning Shadow)

Ei (A) was Yondaime Raikage of Hidden Cloud Village. The Raikage sought to obtain the Byakugan from Konoha, and dispatched a team to kidnap Hyuuga Hinata. A is the older brother of Killer Bee, the Eight-Tails Jinchuuriki. After his brother was captured by Akatsuki, he sought a meeting of the Five Kages to discuss dealing with Akatsuki.

Sandaime Tsuchikage (Third Earth Shadow)

Oonoki was Sandaime Tsuchikage of Hidden Rock Village. His elder status gave him numerous years of experience but also put strain on his body due to his age.

Village Leader Guide
The following ninja act as their village leader. Note they are not Kages. Only the head ninja from the Five Great Shinobi Countries may use the title of "Kage". The individuals thus operate under their real name only.


Akahoshi [Hidden Star]

Akahoshi replaced Sandaime "Hoshikage" after his sudden death. The position of "Kage" within Hidden Star has not been recognized by the Five Great Shinobi Nations. Most in the village believe the usage of the chakra enhancing meteor will make the village powerful enough to be on equal footing with the other five nations. With the death of Akahoshi and the destruction of the meteor, the use of "Kage" will probably end. It is currently unknown who is leading the village.

Hanzou [Hidden Rain]

Hanzou acted as the leader of Hidden Rain for a number of years. When civil war broke out, the rebel leader Pain killed Hanzou and took control of the country.

Pain [Hidden Rain]

Though he acts as the leader of Akatsuki, Pain also led the Hidden Rain rebel ninjas in their civil war against their home village. Pain used his skills to eventually take out Hanzou.

Konan [Hidden Rain]

After Nagato sacrificed his life to help further Naruto's goal of changing the ninja world, Konan promised to honor his wishes and return to the Rain Country. She left Akatsuki and presumably took over control of the remaining Rain forces.

Shinnou [Hidden Sky]

Hidden Sky fought against Konoha in one of the Great Ninja Wars. Their forces were decimated. The village eventually rebuilt their power under the medical ninja Shinnou.

Kazahana Dotou [Hidden Snow]

After having his brother the Daimyou of the Snow Country killed, Dotou formed Hidden Snow and sought enough power to defeat the Five Great Shinobi Countries. He was eventually killed and Hidden Snow's future is unclear.

Orochimaru [Hidden Sound]

Forced to flee Hidden Leaf because of his forbidden experiments, Orochimaru went north and gathered many despondent ninja and clans. With his identity hidden, he formed Hidden Sound and set out to destroy Konoha once and for all.

Shibuki's Father [Hidden Waterfall]

This man served as the head of Hidden Waterfall in the past. When Waterfall came under foreign attack, he ingested the village's Hero water. Unfortunately he wasn't young enough to survive the effects of the water and he passed away shortly afterwards. His son Shibuki took over as Hidden Waterfall leader after his passing.

Shibuki [Hidden Waterfall]

After his father died, Shibuki took control of Hidden Waterfall. Shibuki was unprepared for the role early on, but eventually he accepted his position and strove to do all he could to protect his village.

Kugutsu - Puppets

The art of using puppets in battle was developed in the Hidden Sand Village. Over time these skills were passed on to new ninja. The earliest known puppet master was Chikamatsu Monzaemon. The oldest living master was Chiyo, her grandson Sasori would pick up where she left off and take the art to new heights. When Sasori fled the village, Kankurou would use Sasori's puppets as his own and become renowned in his own right

Akamaru is the familiar of the Genin Inuzuka Kiba. He acts as Kiba's partner.

Akamaru partipated in the Chuunin Exam with Inuzuka Kiba, together they made it to the preliminaries of the third round. Though he and Kiba fought well, they lost to Uzumaki Naruto. Later before the invasion of Konoha, Akamaru tried to alert Kiba to the fact a suspicious masked ANBU was someone they knew. Kiba was unable to listen to the warning in time, as Kabuto knocked both he and Kiba unconscious.

Destruction Bugs

The Destruction Bugs are one of the familiars of the Aburame Clan. These bugs live in the body of their host. In exchange for feeding on the hosts chakra they will do the bidding of the Clan member.

Aburame Shino used the Destruction Bugs in his fights against Zaku of Hidden Sound and Kankurou of Hidden Sand.

Byakugan is the blood inheritance limit of the Hyuuga Clan. The Hyuuga clan was one of the founding noble families of Leaf village. The clan itself is said to be the ancestors of the Uchiha clan who possess the bloodline of the Sharingan eye. When the "Byakugan" is activated, the clan member gains an extra-sensory perception, which gives them penetrating sight and telescopic vision. This allows them to see the tenketsu; the internal chakra coils system 361 pressure points. This vision also grants the member a near 360° view of their surroundings, the higher the skill of the clan member, the further the distance from which they can sense incoming attacks. Unfortunately the vision does have a weakness, a small blind spot that extends outwards from the vertebra of the upper back.

The clan uses this ability in conjunction with their own chakra creating the Juuken (gentle fist) fighting style. The clan member can use their fingers or palms to emit chakra to flow into their opponents body's at the tenketsu points. When the hand draws close enough to strike, the clan member can stop or increase their opponent’s chakra flow. The internal chakra coils which spread throughout the body also wrap around the internal chakra producing organs. So if the internal coils are attacked, it also damages these internal organs. Because a ninja can not train their internal body, such damage can be a critical hit for even a highly skilled ninja. The tenketsu serve as the connectors and exit points for the chakra pathways. So when they are stopped by the Hyuuga clan member, the ninja greatly loses his or her ability to utilize their chakra for jutsu.

This unnamed Ice Style ability is the blood inheritance limit of the Clan Haku hailed from in the Water Country. This unique Ice style is formed through Haku's simultaneous usage of the Water and Wind elemental styles. The citizens of the Water Country blamed the bloodline clans for the constant wars and strife. They turned against the bloodlines and murdered many of them. Clan members fled into hiding and tried to avoid using their bloodline abilities anymore for fear of being killed. Haku's mother fled her clan and married a citizen of the Water Country. When he found out that she had passed on these abilities to her son, he murdered her and came after Haku. Haku was ill-prepared to control his powers, and lashed out to protect himself. His powers took the surrounding water and formed it into an ice spike protective prison. Though his life was spared, his knee jerk response to protect himself killed his father in the process. A homeless Haku was later found by Momochi Zabuza, who saw he could exploit Haku's bloodline abilities for his own nefarious ends.

Haku's powers allow him to take water and freeze it into various forms of ice. Such an ability allows him to turn ice into senbon or into mirrors. Haku can also do many of his jutsu through one-handed seals, something practically unknown and impossible to most ninja. Haku's two primary uses of his ability is Sensatsu Suishou and Makyou Hyoushou.

Sensatsu Suishou is a Ninjutsu technique which uses nearby water to form ice senbon. Haku first kicks water into the air with his foot, and as it rises it freeze to form a "thousand" needles. With the handseal still in place, he can release the needles when needed to have them come raining down on his target.

Makyou Hyoushou is a Ninjutsu technique which uses nearby water to form long flat ice mirrors 360 degrees around the target. Haku himself then places his body inside one of the mirrors. Once inside the mirror, Haku can use the mirror reflections to confuse his target. Utilizing the reflections, Haku can almost instantaneously move from one mirror to the other. Due to the speed, his target will appear to be moving in slow motion. Because of this he can unleash numerous needles into his opponent with little difficulty. Using this technique for long periods of time however, will quickly use up Haku's chakra.

Rinnegan is the blood inheritance limit of Rikudou Sennin (Six Realms Sage) and his descendants. Rikudou Sennin was viewed as the original shinobi and his Doujutsu was regarded as the most venerable of the three great Doujutsu. As the original shinobi it was said he created modern Ninjutsu. The Rinnegan was regarded as a god of creation when the world was racked with chaos and as a weapon of destruction which could return everything to nothingness. Usage of the Rinnegan was said to give the user mastery over all six forms of chakra nature manipulation.

The true extent of the Rinnegan abilities are currently unknown. Rain orphan Nagato was an inheritor of the Doujutsu, and used it unconsciously when he was angry and afraid. He entered into a berserk state which allowed him to defeat a much stronger foe. It may be this same ability which allowed him to never lose a battle as "Pain," the leader of the Rain Village rebel faction and Akatsuki. Nagato in the guise of "Pain" also has the ability to control six different bodies, each of which acts as a "Realm". Nagato's ability to utilize these bodies probably gives rise to the "Transmigration" name. This is a cycle of reincarnation and rebirth seen in Hinduism and Buddhism. There are six states of rebirth in the cosmology, representing all the good and bad possibilities of life. Each of Rikudou Pain bodies acts as one of these states.

The Realms are former corpses controlled by chakra receiving piercings placed into their bodies. Upon being taken over by Nagato and joining the Pain persona, the corpse will regain "life" and bear the Rinnegan. Each Realm has one area of mastery and utilizes that as their primary jutsu. It is unknown if this is a limitation of their original body, or a side effect of the method of control. It is also unclear if this body ability is unique to the Rinnegan or simply Nagato alone.

Tendou, the Deva Realm is the body Pain uses the most. It once belonged to Nagato's friend Yahiko. This body has the ability to utilize Shinra Tensei, a jutsu capable of gravity manipulation. Nagato is able to donate some of his own life force to utilize a large scale version of this technique, which is capable of causing massive destruction. Chikushoudou, or the Animal Realm, is able to summon creatures and other individuals. After Nagato's original Animal body was killed by Jiraiya, Nagato reanimated a female corpse to become the new Animal Realm. Next is Ningendou, the Human Realm, a body which focuses more on Taijutsu. This Realm can also read the minds and remove the soul of enemies is grips. Jigokudou, the Hell Realm, is capable of utilizing a spectral hell figure capable of judging whether one if telling the truth or not. This figure can also remove the soul of the one it judges. Shuradou, or the Asura Realm, utilizes a ninja who heavily modified his body with technology. Asura is capable of unleashing missiles and laser-like blasts. Finally is Gakidou, the Hungry Ghost Realm, who uses sealing techniques to neutralize most any incoming attack, both natural and elemental.

To use these various Realms, Nagato himself will transmit his chakra from a distance away. From this controller position, he can utilize the sensory information of each body, as each Rinnegan host will share the same vision. Meaning what one Realm views, all his other bodies also view, even if their vision is damaged. By increasing the number of Rinnegan host bodies on the battlefield, Nagato will thus increase the number of viewing angles and eliminate any potential blind spots. The Rinnegan also has the ability to see invisible barriers, allowing Pain to avoid walking into traps or tripping alarms.








Sharingan - Copying Wheel Eye (Uchiha Clan)

Sharingan is the blood inheritance limit of the Uchiha Clan. The Uchiha are said to be descendants of the Hyuuga, with the Byakugan changing into the Sharingan over time. This doujutsu (eye skill) gives one the ability to read Genjutsu, Taijutsu and Ninjutsu and then defeat it. As such, the clan member can view a technique being performed and almost instantly memorize the movements required to be able to complete it, including the needed chakra moldings and seals used. However the clan member cannot copy techniques that are unique to another bloodline and the clan member must have a body capable of meeting the chakra and physical requirements to do the jutsu. This rarely stops the clan member though, as such stressful situations often push their limits farther and allow them to harness their full potential.

The Uchiha clan member is not granted the Sharingan at birth; it is only activated later in life, typically during a time of emotional stress in the heat of battle. The Sharingan itself can be transferred to another non-Uchiha by a medical ninja, such as happened with Leaf ninja Uchiha Obito to his teammate Hatake Kakashi. Because his body was not born to carry the Sharingan, the eye is always activated and it burns Kakashi's chakra when used. To lessen the impact of the Sharingan on Kakashi's body, he normally keeps the eye hidden and out of use. Also of note, is the fact Kakashi, a non-Uchiha, was able to advance the Sharingan from two tomoe to three tomoe after gaining the eye.

The Sharingan itself contains three tomoe (comma). A higher mastery of the Sharingan can be seen in the creation of a new tomoe in the eye, with three tomoe being the typical highest form of the eye. The rare Mangekyou form is a unique evolution of the Sharingan beyond the three tomoe form, please see its entry for more information. An eye possessing two tomoe can allow the Uchiha clan member to track the movement of an opponent and do some minor copying of an opponents attack. For avoiding incoming attacks, the Uchiha's speed and agility will greatly control whether they can move to avoid it. However, three tomoe will greatly help in this area.

Two tomoe will also allow the ninja to pierce Genjutsu and see the surrounding reality for what it really is. It can also allow the member to pierce another’s body and see their chakra. While the eye is not refined enough to see the tenketsu and chakra circulatory system like the Byakugan, it can view the movement and flow of chakra. This can help them tell if a person is trapped in a Genjutsu, or if an attacker is a real threat or merely a bunshin.

An eye containing three tomoe will allow the ninja to see the image of an attacker’s next move from the slightest muscle tension in their body. This prevents wasteful movement and allows the Uchiha clan member to conserve much needed chakra in battle. It allows them to synchronize their movement to strike at an area moments before their opponent is even in that spot, essentially allowing them to strike out and hit their opponent before they're even there.

Three tomoe also grants the Uchiha the ability to do Genjutsu and hypnosis after locking eyes with an enemy. This can be used to cause their opponent to do an attack of the Uchiha's choosing. This hypnosis can also be used as a Genjutsu counter, which is the ability to turn a Genjutsu spell back upon the original caster without the requirement of forming any handseals.








Mangekyou Sharingan - Kaleidoscope Copying Wheel Eye (Uchiha Clan)

Sharingan is the blood inheritance limit of the Uchiha Clan. The Mangekyou Sharingan is a legendary doujutsu ability which has only emerged in a few clan members in its history. There is still mystery surrounding the eye and the Uchiha clan itself. Each user develops their own unique looking Mangekyou. The requirements for gaining the Mangekyou are very controversial in nature. After Uchiha Itachi murdered his best friend Shisui he gained Mangekyou. He told his younger brother Sasuke that to gain the Mangekyou, he too would have to kill his closest friend. Itachi told Sasuke that a scroll in their clan shrine revealed the true original purpose of the clan doujutsu. This scroll and Itachi himself revealed that the former leader of their clan, Uchiha Madara and his younger brother Izuna were the first to obtain Mangekyou. Madara himself did this by killing his friend, it's assumed Izuna also killed a close comrade.

Usage of the Mangekyou techniques drains quite a bit of a user’s chakra, more so than any other normal technique. Also as a result of Mangekyou usage, the bearer will slowly lose their vision. Madara lost his vision before his brother and sought to regain his power. To do so he removed Izuna's eyes and made them his own. With these new eyes, his Mangekyou took on a combined appearance of his original Mangekyou and Izuna's. These "Eternal" Mangekyou eyes returned his vision and gave him unbelievable strength. With this strength it was said Madara used Sharingan's normal ability to supress the Kyuubi and tame it.

Itachi originally told Sasuke that if he gained the Mangekyou, then there would be three people who could handle it. After the time skip in the series, Hatake Kakashi revealed he too had gained Mangekyou Sharingan. Later it was revealed that Uchiha Madara himself was still alive, and was the "third" user in Itachi's statement. What part, if any, that Kakashi and Uchiha Obito's eye plays has yet to be determined.

Itachi's three named Mangekyou techniques are Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and Susanoo, all mythological deities. Kakashi's Mangekyou technique is named Kamui.

The Amaterasu or Goddess of the Sun technique is generated by the right Mangekyou eye. It is a Ninjutsu technique which uses the Mangekyou form to create a powerful black fire which can burn through most anything. As it has been said that anything within the Mangekyou's vision will burn to ash if consumed by the fire. The fire itself is said to burn for 7 days and 7 nights. The fire is also regarded as the strongest of Mangekyou's physical attacks.

The Tsukuyomi or God of the Moon technique is generated by the left Mangekyou eye. It is a Genjutsu technique which uses the Mangekyou form to initiate a mentally and physically harmful illusion. To utilize the illusion, the clan member will look into the eyes of his opponent and cast a Genjutsu spell on them. The spell takes place in the mind of the one affected, while the jutsu is cast the one it was cast upon is at the total mercy of the Uchiha clan member. The clan member has full control over space and time in the jutsu and can place the one affected through any hell they desire for any length desired. The technique itself only lasts for but a second in reality, but the one affected could have lasted through several days of pain. It is said only a natural born member of the Uchiha Clan can defeat it, this may mean either an Uchiha also holding the Mangekyou or one fully skilled in the three tomoe Sharingan form.

The Susanoo or God of the Sea and Storms technique is generated by both Mangekyou eyes. It is a technique which uses the Mangekyou form to create a sword wielding specter which will surround the user. This specter wields a shield for defense and a blade known as the Totsuka Sword. Anyone or anything cut by the blade will be sealed away into a Genjutsu of blissful oblivion until the end of time.

The Kamui or God's Majesty technique is used by Hatake Kakashi. With this technique, Kakashi forms a handseal to activate the Sharingan in his left eye and change it into his Mangekyou form. Kakashi then focuses on a point on the body of his target. The area around the target will then begin to warp and collapse in on itself, resulting in that area being quickly "sucked" out of existence and transported to another location.








Ranmaru's Unnamed Bloodline

Ranmaru was an orphan growing up in the Water Country. What happened to the rest of his clan is unclear, but because he grew up in the Water Country, it is possible they were killed when the populace turned against the bloodlines. His traits include penetrating vision and a unique chakra particle extension. He had the ability to use his vision abilities to penetrate the walls of his small shack and view the outside world. This ability does not appear to have the range of the Byakugan, but it actually has the ability to counter that Hyuuga trait.

Ranmaru's vision grants him a greater ability to see ones' life force, even beyond the Hyuuga's internal chakra perception. This allowed him to determine that Raiga, who had recently fallen in battle, was still alive. This was something Neji's Byakugan could not sense.

Ranmaru could also extend his chakra out in red dust-like particles to create phantoms and hide his own chakra presence. The phantoms appeared to have functionality only when used in conjunction with Raiga's Kirigakure technique. The spectral images could be granted life-like chakra flows to confuse both normal ninja and Neji's Byakugan.








Satetsu Manipulation (Sandaime Kazekage)

This unnamed Satetsu manipulation ability is the blood inheritance limit of Sandaime Kazekage. This ability came to be known as Suna's deadliest, and granted him the honor of being called the greatest Kazekage. Seeing a previous Shukaku host manipulate sand, Kazekage surmised he could do something similar with tiny pieces of iron. Sandaime could manipulate the fine iron particles due to his ability to change his chakra into magnetic fields. Because iron is a ferromagnetic material, it could move as the magnetic field directed.

Sandaime Kazekage could thus draw the sand together into various shapes and sizes and form weapons whenever he needed. This includes piercing spikes, rain drops and large crushing blocks. When Sandaime was later made into a puppet by Sasori, the puppet master's skills allowed the puppet to retain the ability to use Satetsu.








Shikotsu Myaku - Corpse Bone Pathways (Kaguya Clan)

Shikotsu Myaku is the blood inheritance limit of the Kaguya Clan. The Kaguya clan hailed from the Water Country and they were known for their love of battle. They foolishly decided to challenge their home country and they were all wiped out save for Kimimaro. This clan has the ability to manipulate their bone structure. They can remove their bones at will to create weapons as strong as steel and also use their ability to spurn the creation of new bones. Kaguya Kimimaro would utilize dances which took advantage of this ability. These taijutsu techniques would mix body movement with his ability to extend bones. Kimimaro would also use his Earth Seal to expand these dance forms, granting him the ability to use his bloodline to its ultimate limit.








Souma no Kou - Attack of an Evil Spirit Pair (Ukon and Sakon's Clan)

Souma no Kou is the blood inheritance limit of the brothers Ukon and Sakon. This ability allows the brothers to break down their body at a molecular level and merge with each other. Ukon has advanced this ability with his gaining of a cursed seal. When he enters his cursed seal level two form, he can break down his body at a molecular level and fuse into the body of his victim. This assassination technique is known as Kisei Kikai. This allows him to strategically rip apart the cells of his target from the inside.

While in his level two cursed seal form, he can freely disassemble and reconstruct these cells with his chakra. When done he can use his power to reconstruct himself back to the way it was as he leaves his targets body. Unfortunately because this fusion makes him and the ninja share the same body, he can be damaged by any harm their body takes if it was not done by his careful manipulation. Though not confirmed, it appears Sakon may be able to do this in his level 2 form as well.

The brothers use their ability in their taijutsu fighting style as well, with one brother leaving the main body to attack an unknowing victim from a blindside, or an extra arm sprouting from a spot on the body to get in an undefendable strike.

Godaime Mizukage and her clan have the ability to use three elements: Earth, Fire and Water. They can use their bloodline abilities to combine these into two new elements. This first unnamed Boiling Style ability is formed through the simultaneous usage of Fire and Water. The second unnamed Dissolving Style ability is formed through the simultaneous usage of Earth and Fire. The citizens of the Water Country blamed the bloodline clans for the constant wars and strife. They turned against the bloodlines and murdered many of them. Clan members fled into hiding and tried to avoid using their bloodline abilities anymore for fear of being killed. After Godaime Mizukage came to power, the internal strife ceased, allowing her to use her abilities without fear.
